Billing Clerk / Member Service Representative

Position Summary
Farmers Electric Cooperative, Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and customer-focused Billing Clerk / Member Service Representative. This position is responsible for processing member billing, maintaining accurate account records, and providing front-line service to members in person and by phone. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to excellent customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Process monthly electric utility billing
- Maintain accurate member account records and billing histories
- Assist members in person and by telephone with account inquiries
- Respond to questions regarding bills, payments, and services
- Post payments and assist with daily cash balancing
- Establish new service accounts and process service orders
- Assist with delinquent accounts and payment arrangements
- Generate billing and member service reports as needed
- Coordinate with operations staff regarding service changes
- Perform general office and administrative duties
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Associate degree in accounting, business, or related field preferred
- Customer service or office experience preferred
- Billing, accounting, or utility experience a plus
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information
- Strong organizational and time management skills
